North Dekalb Veterinary Clinic offers a wide range
of medical services for dogs and cats. While we
cover your pets medical problems from pediatrics
to Senior care, preventative health care is our
primary focus. Our preventative care services
include vaccinations based on risk assessments,
parasite prevention, geriatric health screening,
blood pressure monitoring, and obesity
management. Of course we also offer medical
services for illnesses too. Our in-house laboratory
and up-to-date radiology (x-ray) services
combined with our thorough, comprehensive
examinations allow us to offer excellent diagnostic
and treatment plans for your pet. We regularly
treat patients with gastrointestinal problems; skin
disorders; respiratory and cardiac diseases;
endocrine disorders such as diabetes, thyroid,
and adrenal gland problems; kidney and urinary
problems; cancer; and many other medical
conditions..

Surgical services include: soft tissue surgery for
such things as reconstructive wound repair, skin
biopsies, tumor or mass removals, and repair of
certain hereditary defects; abdominal surgery for
bladder stone removal, intestinal surgery for
foreign body removal or biopsy, liver and
pancreatic biopsy, and splenectomies; and
elective surgery for spays and neuters. We do not
offer surgery for elective tail docking or ear
cropping. Feline declawing is done only in
special circumstances to be determined by the
doctors. Thoracic surgery and orthopedic
problems are generally referred to more qualified
board certified surgeons.
Anesthesia services include the use of both
injectable and inhalation (gas) anesthetics for
general anesthesia as well as the use of local
anesthetics for certain procedures. Anesthetic
protocols for each case are determined on an
individual basis depending on physical exam and
laboratory results. All patients undergoing
anesthesia are required to have pre-anesthetic
labwork performed- even for elective spays and
neuters. We also emphasize integrated pain
relief/control via a combination of preemptive,
intra-operative, and post-op pain relieving
medications.
Modern anesthetic equipment greatly improves
anesthetic safety by allowing constant monitoring
of respiratory and cardiovascular function via
electrocardiography (EKG), pulse oximetry, blood
pressure monitoring, and capnography (Lung
function monitoring).

Behavioral consultations are offered for a
number of different issues including
separation anxiety and phobias in dogs and
litter box issues in cats. All behavioral
consults must start with a full medical workup
to rule out health issues as a complicating
factor in the pets behavior. Behavioral
problems that we do not feel comfortable
handling may referred to behavioral experts
such as the behavioral service at the University
of Georgia. In addition, we also utilize a few
local trainers obedience issues and house
training.

All services are offered on an appointment basis and must be arranged by phone or in
person. Sorry, online appointments are not yet available. Emergencies are seen on a
priority basis or may be referred to an emergency clinic. Walk-ins will be seen as time
permits or may be asked to make an appointment. We apologize for any inconvenience
this may cause. We realize our clients' time is valuable and we make every effort to stay on

North Dekalb Veterinary Clinic does not offer boarding or grooming services as we believe
those services are better performed by pet sitters, doggie daycare facilities, kennels and

Our services cannot be provided without good
pharmaceutical support. While we have a well
stocked in-house pharmacy, we realize that we
cannot carry every possible product that our
patients may require. In addition to our
in-house pharmacy, we rely heavily on local
"human" pharmacies, compounding
pharmacies, and our online pharmaceutical
partner-Vetcentric.
